TAC OPS: SKIRMISH
"Col. Kao looked over the battle plans. The brunt of the battalion's forces would hit the League line near the planets last remaining water purification plant. The combat would be intense and would be no place for Lt. Xen's unseasoned lance, if they faltered in the middle of the assault they could spread confusion throughout the battalion. Looking over the map Kao spied what he was looking for. Duntown. A small nearby town, Xen's lance would launch a diversionary attack there. The raw troops would likely face equally unseasoned Milita defenders and Xen could get his troops some low risk experience while contributing to the battle.

The Skirmish Special Operation, and its counterpart Aerospace Skirmish, are meant to give players not wishing to jump into a full campaign game, or players wishing to arrange what in some sports is called a "friendly" the opportunity to do so. Since the participants are not fully participating in the campaign when doing so the Operation results in no advancement of the players Tactical Campaign (Mini-campaign) and does not effect a players hanger or rating in anyway. Since this is an arranged game players may not use the campaign BAMs interface but instead uses AFR for the arranged game. While a player's units and ranking are unaffected by the Skirmish Op, the operation itself does allow for the game to have a slight affect on the campaign, yielding 25 or 50% the normal gain for the Skirmish and Aerospace Skirmish operations respectively.
