The fact is the campaign is mainly a way for many of us who have no local gaming group or time to go to scheduled tabletop event to have a chance to play Battletech, a game which, if you are reading this, chances are you enjoy as much as we do. In the past if confronted by this issue we were out of luck. Enter the Internet! While the Internet lets us meet each other and carry on our hobby sometimes it doesn't co-operate with us, and you as an individual or even the server as a whole may experience a disconnection of some sorts. The following rules cover such unfortunate possibilities.
Player Internet Failure: Upon a
disconnection of a player, a game will resolve in favor of the other player after 12 minutes from the time that the player
has disconnected. We would suggest you avoid this but we all realize
that Internet connections can be fickle and players are asked to use
common sense and patience. If you are the player that the game will resolve in favor of and you care to take the high road, you may ask an admin (@) or mod (*) to cancel the game for you. You may also voluntarily cancel the game by yourself by logging out briefly which will cancel the game as both parties have disconnected.
SERVER FAILURE: If the server experiences failure (Mekwars server
crash, it happens) players are in a game are expected to return if the
server is back up within 15 minutes. If the server failure lasts longer
then 15 minutes all games are considered canceled, though maybe be
restarted by both players. If the server failure lasts less then 15
minutes and one player returns but the other player fails to return, the
game will be counted as a victory by the returning player.
GAME
FAILS TO REPORT: If the game fails to conclude because of a
technical issue besides server failure with the Mekwars or Megamek client
please notify an admin (@) or mod (*) immediately.
INTENTIONAL
DISCONNECTIONS: Intentionally disconnected to avoid a loss or to
aggravate opponents will be handled in a serious manner. We are here to play Battletech in a friendly manner and this is one of the most disrespectful behaviors a player can engage in. If you have time and expect your opponent to
return it is suggested that you save the game and contact an admin or
mod. If you believe your opponent has disconnected intentionally you are
asked to contact an admin or mod and post a log of events including any
chat logs that would indicate this took place. If a player is found to
have intentionally disconnected the player will be banned for a period
of 3 days on the first offense and will lose all units that participated
in the battle. Repeat offenses could lead to extended bans.
