MEKWARS: LEGENDS   A MEKWARS CAMPAIGN SERVER
CAMPAIGN FAQ
Mekwars: Legends lets players match up for Megamek games in the context of a struggle for supremacy in the Inner Sphere beginning in late 3067. Some of the most common questions about the campaign are answered below.

Why 3067?

The campaign begins in 3067 for several reasons. One of the main reasons is that 3067 is a year full of potential: the FedCom civil war has recently ended, the Blakist Jihad has yet to begin, and the Truce of Tukayyid is about to end. The map of the Inner Sphere is full of opportunities for conflict. The Chaos March still exists allowing a natural point for the Great Houses to clash as rivals.

The Mekwars: Legends campaign however does not stay in the year 3067. During the course of the campaign thousands of battles will be fought, tens of thousands of Mechs, Vehicles, Fighters, Dropships and infantry will be deployed and destroyed in battle as each faction struggles for domination. Factions as both a team and individuals make decisions that advance the time line in a dynamic manner by way of each factions Strategic Operations. These decisions and the battles that follow them are played out during Tactical Operations (battles resolved through Megamek games) move the time line along, introducing new technologies and units as well as unlocking events based on the BattleTech time line.

What is this Rank next to my name?

Along the way You will know victory and defeat. During the campaign at Mekwars:Legends  players move up and down in relative rank tracked by a rating system. For Inner Sphere factions these are "Elite", "Veteran", and "Regular" representing three levels of skill and experience. For the Clan factions the sub factions are "Keshik", "Front line", and "Second Line" again representing varying levels of skill and/or experience at the game. These ranks are displayed to generally allow players to match up in battles with players of relatively equal skill.

The ranks are very important on Mekwars:Legends as games between players of the top rank and the lowest rank feature a special Battle value Modification System that handicaps the "Elite" or "Keshik" player when facing a "Regular" or  "Second line" player, allowing the lower rated, and often less experienced, player to field more combat units and therefore increasing both players chances to experience a challenging and fun game.

(Note while the ranks are based on rating, wins, and experience they represent approximate ranges of these three and a players exact rating is not available to players. Players will have to rely on the opponent's rank designation as an estimate of an opponents skill and experience).

What are the numbers next to the faction names in the servers main channel?

While players move up and down in rating, so do factions. Every ten minutes a news feed will inform players of the relative gains and losses in territory their faction has made in the campaign. While all planets are important in some manner, some are more important then others, and it is control of these planets that will earn a faction the necessary victory conditions needed for each campaign cycle to come to its eventual end and a winner to be declared!

I have a problem who should I contact?

Almost every player in the campaign is willing to help out with any questions you may have. That being said if they are available and you need some sort of official help you should contact a staff member. There are two types of staff members you probably at some point will interact with: Admins and Mods.

Admins are the people generally charged with being the server's caretakers. They are distinguished by having the @ sign next to their name. However they are usually involved in some sort of technical issues or working on some new feature for the server (or playing a game, all admins play under a separate anonymous player account, so you never know you may be talking to one that is "off duty' and not know it)

Mods are the people that aide the admins and generally are asked to take care of helping players with questions and minor issues. The are distinguished by having an asterisk * next to their name. Its always better to ask a mod first if you need something as the admins may be AFK or Busy. If a mod can't help you, he or she will call in an admin.
